Stone's Fascinating But 'Basic Instinct 2' Fails To Seduce

Fourteen years after "Basic Instinct," its sequel opens with super-slutty heroine Catherine Tramell (Sharon Stone) -- now a successful crime novelist -- speeding down a London freeway at 110 mph, loaded with alcohol and drugs, having sex with a drunken soccer star.

At her moment of orgasm, she loses control of the wheel and goes crashing into the Thames, Chappaquiddick-style. Luckily, she makes it safely to the surface, but soon she finds herself wrongly accused of murdering her hapless companion.

When Scotland Yard assigns a psychiatrist, Dr. Michael Glass (David Morrissey), to evaluate her sanity, he concludes she has a "risk addiction," and -- like a moth to a flame, and just like Michael Douglas in Part 1 -- he gradually becomes attracted to, then obsessed with her.

As the body count begins to rise and the movie switches gears to become a serial-murder mystery, Stone is consistently fascinating to watch. At age 48, she looks terrific, she fairly oozes star power and she can still strike a provocative pose.

She also gives a convincing performance of a woman who has become totally bored with sex -- a comical spider-woman who struts around the expensive sets delivering Mae West one-liners and blowing smoke out of the side of her mouth like Bette Davis.

In a better movie, this grand-dame performance might have been fun, but it's surrounded here by an impossibly dull and unsatisfying whodunit plot, unintentionally funny dialogue and such absurdities as having Catherine stay up late one night and whip out an entire novel.

It doesn't help that co-star Morrissey -- who serves as the audience point of view and has most of the screen time -- is a charisma-challenged non-entity. Clearly, the producers could not induce a male star of any stature to take on the thankless role.

Director Michael Caton-Jones fills his frame with teasing flashes of naked bodies, simulated copulation and full-scale orgies; all his characters talk dirty and the movie's advertising would have us believe that it's the last word in steamy cinematic sex.

But Caton-Jones doesn't have original director Paul Verhoeven's gift for glossy smut, and the world has passed by filmmakers in this department during the past 14 years. Compared to what is one click away from any kid on the Internet, the depravity of "Basic Instinct 2" is very tame indeed.

Hysterectomy Associated With Low Sexual Desire

A new survey in The Journal of Sexual Medicine indicates that surgically menopausal women (those who have undergone a hysterectomy or oophorectomy) are at an increased risk of low sexual desire and impeded sexual function. It also appears that surgically menopausal women, when compared to pre-menopausal or naturally menopausal women, are at a significantly increased risk for low sexual desire and also decreased pleasure, and orgasmic difficulties.

Dr. Irwin Goldstein, Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Sexual Medicine, said that "while this investigation focused on sexual interest, there was significant correlation of low desire with low arousal, decreased pleasure, or orgasmic difficulties which can lead to dissatisfaction with sex life and the partner relationship."

The surgically menopausal women in the study, aged between 20 and 70 years, were also found to be more likely to have the condition Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder. The women with low sexual desire were significantly less likely to engage in sexual activity and significantly more likely to be dissatisfied with their sex life and partner relationship than women with normal desire.

"Women who undergo hysterectomy with removal of both ovaries are more likely to have low sexual desire and also more likely to be distressed about this," said lead author of the study Dr. Lorraine Dennerstein, from the University of Melbourne, Australia. "There is marked variation in prevalence of this type of surgery throughout the world. The USA has a higher prevalence than, for example, France. Doctors and patients need to be aware that there may be detrimental effects on sexual function as a result of the surgery. The findings suggest hormonal causation for the lowered sexual desire." Co-researcher, Dr. Alessandra Graziottin, added that it was important that doctors consider alternative treatments. "Physicians should consider a more conservative treatment as it concerns the important role of ovaries - prophylactic ovariectomy [oophorectomy] to prevent ovarian cancer is the only case in medicine of removal of a healthy organ to prevent cancer."

NZ-born Broadcaster in Aussie Sex Scandal

New Zealand-born radio broadcaster Derryn Hinch (pictured with his partner Patricia Smith) has become embroiled in a sex scandal after a woman claimed he sexually assaulted her in Melbourne.

Hinch, dubbed "The Human Headline" in Australia where he has worked as a print and radio journalist and television presenter, said he had been blackmailed by the woman who was a former business partner, the Herald Sun newspaper reported.

He is well known for his campaigning against sex offenders.

The alleged victim was interviewed for about 10 hours on Wednesday by detectives from the sex crimes squad.

It was believed she claimed Hinch assaulted her in a bed at his St Kilda Rd apartment in Melbourne about 12 months ago, the newspaper said.

Hinch, recently married for the fourth time, last night angrily denied all allegations.

The claims were "absolute rubbish," he said.

Hinch's lawyer, Nick Pullen, said the allegations came after the broadcaster poured nearly $100,000 into a business deal with the woman and started asking for a return.

Hinch has enjoyed a controversial career. He has been sacked 14 times in his 45 years in journalism. He started his career in New Zealand newspapers.

Relationship Health Check

Advice From the Griffith University Newlyweds study:

1. Have you had a date with your partner in the past six months?
(At least every two to three weeks is healthy.)

2. If we disagree, can we sit down and calmly talk about the issue? (Yes? That's healthy.)

3. How often do you tell your partner that you love them?
(At least every other day, or more, is healthy.)

4. In the past month, have I done something really nice as a surprise for my partner?
(A yes answer is good.)

5. Do you talk to your partner about their away-from-home life?
(Every other day is wise - and listen too.)

MEN: You can listen to her without giving advice. Often women just want to be listened to. Try to understand what she is going through without assuming she needs to know what to do. Ask her if she wants any advice or just someone to listen.

WOMEN: Sometimes its OK for men not to talk about things that happen to them. They don't have to talk about every feeling all the time. It's not a sign that they don't love you. A little bit of space is OK.

Cruel Father Jailed For 10 Years

A MAN who subjected his daughter to years of sexual abuse once left her for dead hanging from a clothes line, a Brisbane court was told today.

The 53-year-old pensioner, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his daughter, was jailed today for 10 years after pleading guilty in the Supreme Court to one count each of maintaining a sexual relationship with a child and torture.

The offences occurred between March 31, 1993, and July 15, 2000, at Burpengary on the far northern outskirts of Brisbane.

The daughter, now aged 18, was the eldest of the man's five children born to his de facto wife, who was also his stepdaughter.

The court heard the girl was sexually molested by her father from the age of seven.

He also forced the girl to have an abortion at the age of 13 when she fell pregnant to him following the constant rapes.

Justice Martin Moynihan said the father beat and mentally abused all his children and was particularly violent to the eldest girl and restricted her access to the outside world.

"There is no occasion to doubt that the victim, her mother and the other members of the family were all in fear of you," Justice Moynihan told the man.

The children were all finally taken from the father in July 2000 after a friend of the girl revealed she had been shown pornography by him.

It was then the daughter revealed the father had once tried to hang her from a clothes hoist with a rope.

The court was told he swung the clothes line around to where the ground fell away so that her feet could not touch and then laughed and said "die bitch" before leaving her there.

Eventually, she managed to swing herself around and grab a crate with her feet to save herself.

Prosecutor Sal Vasta described the hanging attempt as a power play by the father.

"It was to reinforce the authority he had over her and the futility of her doing anything other than going along with his wishes," Mr Vasta said.

Brisbane Sex Offender Free

Brsibane, AU -- A man facing child sex charges for the second time in four years escaped and actual jail sentence because of the extraordinary nature of his case. In 2002, the man, now 37, was placed on a 12-month intensive correction order after pleading guilty to molesting his daughter, then aged 11.

The court was told that on two occasions, in 2001, the man, while drunk, placed his hands inside his daughter's pants on the otside of her vagina. In the District Court yesterday, the man pleaded guilty to indecetnly treating his niece, 8, in similar circumstances in late 2000. The offences against his niece, although committed first, did not come to light until after he was sentenced for molesting his daughter.

Judge Garry Forno said it was and unusal case because had the man been sentenced on all three charges in 2002 he would have almost certainly gone to jail. He said, however, the man had successfully completed his correction ordcer and hand not drunk alcohol since 2003. Judge Forno senteced the man to a wholly suspended eight months' jail.

Sex Scandal At Guantanamo

(CBS) As if the situation at Guantanamo isn't messy enough, there is now a sex scandal involving senior military officers who were running the prison, reports CBS National Security Correspondent David Martin.

The colonel in charge of prison operations, a Lt. colonel who commanded the military police guarding the prisoners, and another lieutenant colonel who commanded the soldiers responsible for base security have all been relieved of duty. They are accused of committing adultery with a female Navy Lt. and a number of female civilian contractors.

An Army general who was the deputy commander of the task force which runs Guantanamo is also under investigation for adultery, which is a violation of military law, Martin reports. That case has been turned over to the Army's inspector general at the Pentagon since it involves such a high ranking officer.

The investigation began after a soldier -- who himself had been disciplined for adultery -- blew the whistle on the officers. Once the investigation began, it turned up e-mails in which the officers were exchanging information about the women they were having sex with.

Although the conduct involves private behavior off duty, Martin notes, it involves four of the most senior officers at the camp. And it raises questions about the quality and discipline of the officers running the prison there.

Some 550 prisoners are being held at Guantanamo Bay, many for more than three years without charge or access to attorneys. The detentions have prompted concerns about the legality of holding terror suspects there without bringing charges. There have also been allegations of abuse at the camp.

In February, U.S. military appointed a three-star general to lead an investigation into abuse allegations at Guantanamo Bay.

Air Force Lt. Gen. Randall M. Schmidt took over command of the camp, according to the U.S. Southern Command in Miami, which oversees the camp in eastern Cuba.

Schmidt will question Maj. Gen. Geoffrey D. Miller, a two-star general who commanded the camp during many of the incidents detailed in recently released FBI memos that complain of "aggressive" interrogation techniques. Miller was in Guantanamo from October 2002 to March 2004 and was sent there to get more information from terror suspects.

The military maintains that most incidents detailed in the FBI memos occurred in 2002 when the prison was just opening, and that some of the interrogation techniques labeled as "aggressive" are no longer in use.

Documents published in December show FBI agents warned the government about abuse and mistreatment shortly after the first prisoners arrived in early 2002, more than a year before a scandal at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison. One letter, written by a senior Justice Department official suggested the Pentagon failed to act on the FBI complaints.

The American Civil Liberties Union released similar e-mails obtained under the Freedom of Information Act in which FBI agents accused interrogators of inserting lit cigarettes in prisoners' ears and shackling them for hours, forcing them to soil themselves.

Better Looking Men More Risky Sex

By Anne Harding

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Young men who feel good about their looks are more likely than their peers with a less positive body image to engage in risky sexual behavior, a new study of college students shows.

The men who were most satisfied with their appearance, and the most appearance-oriented -- meaning they were highly invested in their looks and considered appearance to be important -- were also the most likely to have sex without condoms and to have sex with multiple partners, Dr. Eva S. Lefkowitz of Pennsylvania State University in University Park and colleagues report.

"There's kind of a general belief that a positive view of your body is a good thing," Lefkowitz said in an interview with Reuters Health. "We're not saying that's not true, but we do think in the case of young men there could be potential negative ramifications of a positive view of one's body."

Among young women, in contrast, those with a more positive body image were less likely to engage in risky sexual behavior, Lefkowitz and her team found.

The researchers interviewed 434 students, ranging in age from 17 to 19, during their first year of college. Fifty-nine percent reported being sexually active. Just over two-thirds of sexually active students said they didn't use condoms every time they had sex, while a little over half said they used alcohol while having sex at least some of the time.

While sexually active students reported less dissatisfaction with their looks and a more positive body image on average, "it's important to point out that we don't know which comes first," Lefkowitz said. People who feel better about their looks may be more likely to have sex, or being sexually active may confer a better body image, she explained.

As the researchers hypothesized, men with better body images had more lifetime sex partners and were less likely to use condoms during sex, while women who felt more positively about their looks had fewer partners and used condoms more frequently.

The findings show, Lefkowitz and her team conclude, that high self-esteem in terms of appearance may not be protective for young men, but instead may put them in danger of taking risks sexually.

Parents sending sons off to college may want to consider "really emphasizing not just go forth and feel good about yourself, but also within those messages emphasizing the importance of protecting yourself and respect for women," Lefkowitz advised.

Let's Talk About Sex

Talking to your children about sex is an important part of parenting. Each year about one million teenage girls become pregnant and three million teens get a sexually transmitted disease in the United States.

Research indicates that 46 percent of high school children have had sexual intercourse, and nearly half of sexually active teens did not use protection during their last sexual encounter.

Children are exposed to sexual messages all the time through television, radio, the Internet, even malls. But these aren't the only sources of information you want for your children -- children need to feel comfortable enough to ask questions, and parents should respond to the needs and curiosity level of their children.

Sometimes less is more. Some children will be happy with a simple short answer; others will need details. Use your best judgment, proper terminology, and words they are comfortable with. Be prepared -- get some books on the topic to help you.

Regarding older children, they need to know the importance of understanding responsibilities. Unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases (some fatal), and the emotional feelings and involvement that accompany sex can have life-changing consequences.

Influenced by their peers and the media, children may believe that everyone is having sex. Reports suggest that preteens are experimenting with oral sex, but don't describe themselves as being sexually active. It is your responsibility to enlighten them -- and to explain why postponing sex may be best.

Talk to your children about the distinction of lust, love, and sex. Tell them that they don't have to have sex to prove they love someone.

Here are some tips for discussing sex with your child or teen:

Encourage questions.

Avoid shock and criticism.

Use age-appropriate words and your child's level of knowledge and understanding.

Share experiences when appropriate, and your values and expectations.

Use accurate sources of information.

DNA Results In Rape Case Arrest

A DNA breakthrough has helped police arrest a man accused of sickening sex attacks against a young mother and a teenage girl. The 30-year-old -- who cannot be named for legal reasons -- has been charged with raping a woman, 27, in North Rockhampton in 1999 while her baby daughter slept nearby. He also has been accused of raping a girl 15, in her parent's North Rockhampton home in 2002.

Police said both attacks occurred at exactly 4.15am. Sergeant Jen Jacobsen opposed the man's release, claiming he had raped two strangers and was in court thanks to DNA evidence. The man was refused bail and will appear before Rockhampton Magistrate's Court on April 12.

Sex Assault At Commonwealth Games In Melbourne

Melbourne, AU -- The Commonwealth Games has been hit by a claim of sexual assault at the athletes village. Police are investigating a cleaner's claim a visiting team official assaulted her two days ago while she was trying to clean his room.

The cleaner - a girl of 16 - said he tried to hug, kiss and fondle her, sources said. A special village based police criminal investigation unit has been called in to check allegations - which, if proven, could lead to the expulsion of the official - and even to charges being laid. Police confirmed that the complaint did not involve any athlete, and said the accused had strongly denied any wrongdoing.

Police spokeswoman Carla Coslovich confirmed the teenager's complaint.

TV Sex A Turn-On For Teens

A damning verdict was delivered yesterday on the poser of television in encouraging teenage sex. Researchers found 13-year-olds who watch program featuring sex are the most sexually active or the keenest to become so.

They concluded TV is the single biggest influence on the sexual habits of the young. The US study, carried out by the University of South Carolina, will fuel concern over growing levels of sexual content in TV programs.

Girl, 18, Charged With Having Sex With Minor

Noblesville, Indiana -- A Westfield High School girl is being prosecuted on felony charges of sexual misconduct with a minor for having sex with a 15-year-old schoolmate.

The father of Laura M. Wilcox, an 18-year-old senior, declined to discuss the charges Thursday. He indicated, though, that he and his wife were puzzled by the case involving consenting teens.
"We certainly have an opinion," said Daniel Wilcox, who referred questions about the case to the family's attorney. "I can't share anything."

Under Indiana law, the legal age for consensual sex is 16. Hamilton County Deputy Prosecutor Stephanie Smith said the Wilcox case differs from other such prosecutions only because the accused is female.

"If the situation were reversed, and it were a male perpetrating on a female, we would have filed charges routinely, and I don't think anyone would have questioned it," she said.

In a statement of evidence submitted last week to obtain a warrant for the girl's arrest, Hamilton County Sheriff's Department investigator Kija Ireland said the crime occurred after Wilcox gave the boy a ride home from school Feb. 1. The Indianapolis Star generally does not identify alleged victims of a sex crime.

Sheriff's Maj. Mark Bowen said authorities set up the interview with the Hamilton County Division of Child Services after the boy's parents filed a complaint Feb. 6.
Wilcox was released on $10,000 bond pending trial. An initial court hearing on the Class C felony charges is set for April 5.

Wilcox has been involved in a prior police investigation. In November 2004, she and three friends were in a car that veered off I-80 near Gary and crashed into an asphalt roller. The impact ejected 16-year-old classmates Kristin Rice and Travis Woerner. Both died.
Police determined that the four had obtained alcoholic beverages and had been drinking prior to the crash.

Ex-Priest Arrested On Long Island Sex Charges

MINEOLA, N.Y. -- A former priest previously convicted of molesting a teenager was arraigned Wednesday on charges he tried to have sex with someone he thought was a 14-year-old boy, police said.

Thomas J. Bender, 72, of Macungie, Pa., faces five charges of attempting to disseminate indecent material to a minor and one count of attempted criminal sexual act.

He did not immediately enter a plea at his arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead, where he was ordered held on $120,000 bail. He was represented by an attorney for Legal Aid, which does not comment on pending cases.

Bender, who served as pastor at Most Blessed Sacrament in Bally, Pa., was sentenced to seven years probation in 1988 for molesting a teenage boy in the 1980s.

Nassau County prosecutors say Bender was engaged in several online conversations with someone he believed was a 14-year-old boy from Long Island but who turned out to be a detective posing as a teenager.

On Tuesday, Bender allegedly tried to meet the boy at an undisclosed location with the intention of taking him to a motel for sex. When the ex-priest arrived at the location, he was arrested by detectives.

When he was arrested, Bender was carrying condoms, beer, pornography, a digital camera, candy, gum, toothpaste, KY Jelly, a jar filled with what police believe is lubrication and a laptop, Detective Sgt. Lucy Graziano said at a press conference Wednesday.

She said Bender engaged in "grooming" his prospective victim, nurturing him and building a relationship, before the messages turned sexual.

"We believe all of these conversations were for the defendant to meet with ... the 14-year-old boy," Graziano said.

Child Porn Lecture

Brisbane, AU -- A man caught with 90 child porn images on his computer escaped actual jail time yesterday, but not before he received a lecture from District Court judge Ian Dearden for helping contribute to the sexual exploitation of children.

Brett Ashley Connor, 35, was charged last September with the new offence of possessing child exploitation material after he was identified in an investigation by Queensland police's Taskforce Argos. He pleaded guilty to the charge yesterday.

Crown prosecutor David Nardone told the court police found almost 100 child pornographic images saved to Connor's computer hard drive in a file titled "Special".

Judge Dearden sentenced Connor to nine month's jail but wholly suspended it in recognition of factors in his favor, including his co-operation with the authorities and the lack of apparent distribution of the images.

Stepdad Jailed For 15 Years For Rape

A Man quoted biblical passages to his stepdaughter after he raped her and made her pregnant. The man, who cannot be named, was yesterday jailed for a total of 15 years after the judge found he had shown no remorse.

The District Court in Brisbane was told the man, 40, began abusing his stepdaughter when she was about 12 and maintained a sexual relationship with her until she was 16. He then raped her twice and on the first occasion she became pregnant with the man's daughter.

Judge Garry Forno sentenced him to five years for the child sex offences to be served cumulatively on 10 year sentence for the rapes.

Droped Charges Against Lafave

Tampa, Fla. -- Prosecutors in one Florida county decided Tuesday to drop charges against a former Tampa teacher accused of having sex with a 14-year-old middle school student.

The decision, announced hours after Marion County Circuit Judge Hale Stancil rejected a plea deal for Debra Lafave, 25, means the victim won't have to testify. Lafave's sentence in another county for having sex with the same boy still stands.

A psychiatrist who examined the teenager told the judge at a previous hearing that the boy suffered extreme anxiety from the media coverage of the case and does not want to testify.
Lafave, who said she is getting treatment for bipolar disorder, already was sentenced to three years of house arrest and seven years' probation in Hillsborough County, where she was charged with having sex with the same boy in a classroom and her home.

In Marion County, she was accused of having sex with the boy in a sport utility vehicle.

No Danger To Anyone Says HIV Positive Man

Clato Lual Mabior says he's no danger to anyone, despite what Winnipeg Regional Health Authority officials say.

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority took the unprecedented step yesterday of publicly releasing a health order warning that states Mabior, who is HIV-positive, could be having sex with a number of unsuspecting victims.

The health order was originally issued against Mabior, 28, on March 14, but a decision to go public with it came after the Sudanese immigrant was charged with the serious sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl over the weekend at his West End home. He's scheduled to make a court appearance relating to those charges on April 18.

The subsequent investigation into that incident revealed the possibility Mabior has had sexual relations with a number of unsuspecting victims, say police, and that anyone who has been intimate with him seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Police were looking for Mabior yesterday to serve the health order to him. When found at his home by the Sun yesterday afternoon, though, Mabior said he was unaware police had been looking for him.

Mabior said he doesn't know why the girl pressed charges against him, adding he never raped the girl and that she -- like many others -- was well aware of his medical condition.

Police allege the girl and a 15-year-old friend were over at Mabior's house drinking on the weekend. The 17-year-old tried to leave about 3 a.m. Sunday but was prevented from doing so by Mabior, say police, who allege he then "seriously" sexually assaulted and threatened her. She was only able to leave with the help of Mabior's roommate, police say.

Mabior painted a much different picture of the night, however.

Sitting in his room -- which is decorated with pornographic photos of naked women on the wall, as well as a Bible that sits on the dresser -- Mabior told the Sun he and the girl were getting physically involved that night and he had even slipped a condom on, but sex never ended up materializing.

As for being a threat to the public, Mabior said he has never lied to a partner about his condition and insists on wearing a condom every time he has sex.

He also said he wasn't bothered that police released his photo and advised all of his sexual partners to seek medical attention.

"It doesn't bother me at all," said Mabior, of his medical problems being made public. "A lot of people already know about it."

Mabior left Sudan in August 2000 and moved to Toronto. He said his only previous brush with the law occurred there, when he was charged with assault with a weapon, which he said resulted from a knife-fight with another man over a long-distance phone bill.

He moved to Winnipeg about two years ago and took a job as a meatcutter at Maple Leaf. It was around that time he found out he was HIV-positive, Mabior said.

He said he doesn't know how he contracted the virus. He left work at Maple Leaf about a year ago on his doctor's orders due to HIV-related sickness.

Kid Rock Sex Video To Be Further Blocked

DETROIT Mar 19, 2006 (AP)— Lawyers for Kid Rock and a California company have reached a tentative agreement to extend a judge's order blocking the release of an explicit sex video featuring the rap-rocker, former Creed singer Scott Stapp and four women.

Under the agreement, the temporary injunction would remain in effect without the necessity of another court hearing, according to William Horton, a lawyer for Rock who spoke to The Detroit News.

Paperwork to permanently block the release of the tape is expected to be filed early next week, the newspaper said.

Lawyers for the company, World Wide Red Light District, did not return messages left Saturday seeking comment.

Meth Linked To Unsafe Sex

Heterosexual men are more likely to engage in high-risk sex if they use methamphetamine, or "meth", a new study reveals.

Previous studies have linked meth use, risky sexual behaviour and increased incidence of HIV infection among gay men. Few studies, however, have looked at these issues among straight men, despite the growing incidence of HIV among heterosexuals.

The HEY-Man (Health Evaluation in Young Men) Study by the California Department of Health Services involved 968 men aged 18 to 35 who reported having female sex partners exclusively during the preceding six months.

Investigators found recent meth users were significantly more likely than men who never used meth to report high-risk behaviour including anal sex, having a casual or anonymous sex partner and multiple sex partners.

In Grave With Porn Collection

A 65-year old unmarried Russian man is apparently so attached to his stack of porn magazines, that not only has he decided to be buried with them when he dies, but has also designed a coffin with special space for them.

"The girls in those magazines have been my companions for years, and I want them to accompany me to the next life," Fox News quoted him, as telling Utro newspaper.

10 Years In Jail For Oral Sex With Teen Girl

A wild New Year's Eve two years ago has landed a Georgia teen in prison for 10 years on charges of child molestation in a case that has state legislators reworking the strict law that put him behind bars.

Genarlow Wilson and a group of friends had the kind of bash no parent would want their teenager to attend. Crime scene investigators combing the room in a Days Inn in the small town of Douglasville, Ga., found evidence of drinking, as well as condoms and wrappers littered all over. Plus, there was a video camera.

In a portion of a tape obtained by "Primetime," Wilson, then 17 and an honor student and star athlete who was homecoming king, is seen having intercourse with a 17-year-old girl, who was seen earlier on the bathroom floor. During the sex act, she appears to be sleepy or intoxicated but never asks Wilson to stop. Later on in the tape, she is seen being pulled off the bed.

Other portions of the tape show a second girl, who was 15 and later said she did not drink that night. She was recorded having oral sex with several boys in succession, including Wilson.

The following morning, Wilson got a phone call that would change his life. He learned from a friend that the 17-year-old had gone to the police to report that she'd been raped.

"I was, like, 'What? When was this happening? Did this happen at the same party I was at?'" Wilson said. "It was shocking to me."

A Decade in Prison Authorities believed the 17-year-old alleged rape victim and said she was too intoxicated to consent to any sexual acts, which is what Georgia law requires, otherwise these acts can be considered rape.

Six boys, including Wilson, were arrested on various charges, including rape. District Attorney David McDade said the videotape was critical to his case. "There is no doubt that without the videotape we would have to be relying on the statements of these young people, and that would have been a more difficult prosecution," he said.

Wilson maintained his innocence. "I know that it was consensual," he told "Primetime." "I wouldn't went on with the acts if it wasn't consensual. I'm not that kind of person. No means no."

Five of the boys accepted plea deals, but Wilson -- the only one without a police record -- held out. "I knew Genarlow's state of mind," said his attorney, Michael Mann. "He wasn't going to prison willingly. He wasn't going to plea to something in his mind he didn't do."

He stood trial in February 2005 for five days. And at first, the jury's deliberations moved swiftly. Jurors voted to acquit Wilson of raping the 17-year-old.

"I mean it wasn't even an hour," said jury forewoman Marie Manigault. "We immediately saw the tape for what it was. We went back and saw it again and saw what actually happened and everybody immediately said not guilty."

But there was one other charge the jury had to decide on. The second girl in the videotape was 15, and the age of consent in Georgia is 16. And under state law, prosecutors charged Wilson with aggravated child molestation. To those close to the young man, it was an outrage.

"Nobody could believe that this is the law," Mann said.

Even jurors frowned on the charge. "A bad law, absolutely," Manigault said.

And in Georgia, that they'd had oral sex made matters worse. Until 1998, oral sex between husband and wife was illegal, punishable by up to 20 years in prison. In Wilson's case, even though he is only two years older than the girl, she was 15 and -- willing or not -- could not consent legally that night.

Whatever their feelings about the law, jurors felt they had no choice but to find Wilson guilty of aggravated child molestation. Moments later, back in the jury room, jurors were told for the first time that the conviction came with a mandatory sentence of at least 10 years in prison. In addition, Wilson would be forced to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

McDade said Wilson could have had a better outcome if he had accepted the plea deal. "What I believe is that Genarlow Wilson listened to people who were trying to use this case for another agenda and he followed their advice," he said. "Do I believe that [in] Genarlow Wilson's case justice would have been served if he accepted a lesser plea? Sure I do. I wish he had of. Sure I do."

'Doing What's Right' Before the incident, Wilson -- by any measure -- had beaten the odds. The son of a single mom, the high school senior was an honor student and an all-conference football player and track star, with offers to play in college. He was popular enough to be elected homecoming king at Douglas County High.

"I was the first-ever homecoming king at my high school," he said. "That was a very great privilege for me."

Atlanta attorney B.J. Bernstein has filed Wilson's appeal. She said prosecutors should never have brought charges and that justice should have been meted out at home.

And a state legislator who helped pass the molestation law said it was never meant to police teen sex.

"The legislative intent was to protect women and children from sexual predators," said Rep. Tyrone Brooks, a Democrat in the Georgia State Assembly.

As the court considers Wilson's appeal, the Georgia legislature is rewriting the law that sent Wilson to prison. In a bill that has passed the House and is pending in the Senate, the crime would become a misdemeanor, punishable by no more than a year in prison, or even probation. And anyone convicted would not have to register as a sex offender.

Today Wilson remains as steadfast as ever about not taking the deal that would have reduced his sentence by half.

"It's all about doing what's right," he said. "And what's right is right, and what's wrong is wrong. And I'm just standing up for what I believe in."

Gang Rape With The Mother's Support

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Seven gang members and three female associates were charged Monday with raping a woman as the mother of one suspect allegedly watched and encouraged the assault, authorities said.

The 23-year-old victim was targeted because her boyfriend had angered members of the Anaheim gang, authorities said. The woman was lured into a hotel room by a female gang associate at a Feb. 23 party and sexually assaulted over a seven-hour period, Anaheim police Chief John Welter said.

Each defendant, including the mother, was charged with multiple counts of forcible rape in concert and related charges. Those arrested were being held on $100,000 bail each, with arraignment expected Friday. Authorities called it one of the worst rape cases they could recall.

Sex Photos Of Woman Dead On Cruise

Brisbane, AU -- Photos were taken of a man having sex with a Brisbane woman the night before she was found dead during a luxury cruise, a coronial inquest has been told.

Dianne Brimble, 42, was holidaying with family and friends in September 2002 when she was found dead on the second day of her Pacific cruise. Ms Brimble's body was found in a cabin occupied by four men she had met the previous evening. It is believed she died from and overdose of the date rape drug gamma-hydroxybutyrate, otherwise known as GBH, or fantasy.

Family and friends have told Sydney's Glebe Coroner's Court the devoted mother was moral person who did not approve of promiscuous sex or drug taking.

Not long before Dianne Brimble was found dead in the cabin of a cruise ship, fellow holidaymakers were shown digital photographs of the Brisbane mother having sex with another passenger, an inquest has been told.

Mrs Brimble met a group of eight men at a disco on her first night on the ship and the next morning was found dead in a cabin occupied by four of the men, the inquest has been told.

The inquiry today heard evidence from Natasha McCann, who had shared a cabin on the cruise with three female friends. She said that after returning from the ship's disco she had seen a man outside her cabin, naked except for a life jacket.

She identified him in court as Mark Robin Wilhelm and said he and three other men - Dragan Losic, Ryan Kym Kuchel and Petar Vladimir Pantic - later came into her cabin.

"Someone - I don't know which person - started to tell me about Mark having sexual intercourse with a lady," Ms McCann said.

"Someone showed me some photos on a digital camera ... (of) Mark having sexual intercourse with a lady."

Interviewed by police after Mrs Brimble's death, Ms McCann said she was astounded to be shown the explicit photographs, which the men had treated at the time as "all a big joke".

Ms McCann told the court she had also regarded the photographs as a joke, but had not realised at the time what was happening. She was very surprised to see the photographs, she told the inquest, and believed Mr Wilhelm or Mr Pantic had shown them to her.

Ms McCann also said she was told that when the men had left the cabin, their friend Letterio Silvestri - whom she knew as Leo - was receiving oral sex from the lady.

The inquest continues tomorrow.

Single Mums To Rule

London, UK -- More than half of all babies will soon be born outside marriage, a survey shows. Britain is thought to be only six years away from the watershed moment when 50% of children will be born to unmarried mothers.

Figures published by the Office For National Statistics show a record four out of 10 babies were born to unmarried mothers in 2004. In 1980, only 12% of babies born in this country were to mothers who were not married.

During the past 25 years the number born to single mothers and women in cohabitating relationships has rocketed to 42%. Only Denmark, Finland and Sweden had higher figures. The statistics look even more startling when compared to Greece where only 5% of babies are born outside marriage.

In Tunbridge Wells, a byword for middle-class conservatism, more babies were born out of wedlock in 2004 than in derpived Tower Hamlets.

Big Cock Is Important For Men

The length of his penis is key to a homosexual man's self esteem and how he sees his body in general, according to a recent Dutch study undertaken at Utrecht University.

The majority of gay men regard a large sexual organ as ideal, and having one is linked to self-esteem, Liesbeth Woertman, a senior lecturer in clinical psychology, has found.

Woertman, a psychologist and sexologist, surveyed 251 gay men with an average age of 29 together with a colleague specialising in social and organisational psychology.

"Our study reveals that how gay men see their penis has considerable influence on how they value themselves in general," Woertman said.

"It is not known whether if there is a similar link in heterosexual men, but there are various reasons for assuming that the self-image of heterosexual men is linked to how they evaluate the most characteristically masculine part of their body," she added.

The men surveyed said their penises were the most attractive parts of their body, followed by their stomachs and their skin.

Woertman has previously confirmed that gay men spend more time, money and effort on their appearance than straight men.

She offers as one explanation that gay men are sex objects for men.

The psychologist believes that, despite the derogatory remarks, gay and straight men differ little from each other, and that their attitudes are converging regarding appearance.

This is because women are increasingly seeing men as sex objects, she believes.

"Appearance has thus become more important for the straight man," she said, calling for more research into how heterosexual men see their bodies.

She suspects that contemporary men are less satisfied with their appearance than earlier generations. - Sapa-DPA

Sex Health Checks In NSW On The Rise

NSW, AU -- More people are having sexual health checks after and advertising campaign warned of risky sex. There was a 50% increase in women and men getting regular sex checks because of the safe sex message in the $1.1 million campaign.

The second phase of the State Government campaign launches today across television, print and bus stops. NSW Health director of communicable diseases Dr Jeremy McAnulty yesterday said although the campaign had been successful, there was still only 28% in the target group who have had a health check.

Lets Talk About Sex And Australians

By Kathleen Noonan

Sex sure stirs us up. It may be one of the most basic of human activities, yet many are as repressed, depressed and suppressed by it, as underdressed and caressed. We love to read about it. It intrigues, scares, delights and frustrates us. That's why news editors put in on the front page, whenever credibility allows.

Yet when we read or experience something about sex, we tent to give it our own moral twist. We believe what we do in our sex lives is normal, what others do is weird. Yet one person's deviance is another's tame. What's that saying? Kinky is using a feather. Perverted is using the whole chicken. Boom boom.

On the poultry theme, just yesterday, I am telling a joke to a man I know in Sydney. He's phoned to basically mock about some adverse reactions in Queensland to the film Brokeback Mountain, a sad love story between two main characters, who happen to be men.

"What a bunch of homophobic rednecks you are in Queensland. Typical!" he booms down the phone. But I am pretending not to hear and instead push on with the gag: "So, this chicken and egg are lying bed, right..." It's a lame diversion, but constantly defending Queensland against red-neckism does get tiresome.

This mate is just getting wound up. "Do you know the only complaints about the gay couple on ABC Strictly Dancing last year came from Queensland? Are people so insecure about their own sexuality?" The mocking goes on. And the stereotype whether accurate or not lives on: Queensland, perfect one day, repressed the next.

This quiet film, starring Heath Ledger looking disturbingly like George Bush, all tightly wound and small-mouthed, has stirred things up around the world, particularly in anti-gay circles. There is nothing like sex to get us all hot and bothered and righteous. We like to believe a nice romantic version of it yet ignore basic, sweaty, gritty truths. Many might like to think sex is something done only in the bedroom but the truth is out there.

Statistics can at least give us a glimpse of what goes on Down Under. Research done by the University of New England's sociology department found 640000 Australians are on adult video mailing lists. It is the second largest direct mail list in the country behind the Coles-Myer FlyBuys scheme. Interestingly, a third of all mail order customers are from, you guessed it, Queensland. There are about 250 adult shops operating around Australia with a turnover of about $100 million. Someone's going to do damn things.

Use of vibrator in Australia is 46%, only just behind Taiwan, which is abuzz at 47%, according to what was called the biggest study of global sex lives conducted by condom manufacturer Durex. Of all 41 countries studied, Australians lead the world in frequency of sex in parks, which says something about our warm climate and town planning and proliferation of gardening television shows.

Sex is big business. A brothel not far from the Gabba cricket ground had steady bookings during a recent Test match. While a game was on , a man turned up obviously in a hurry. He would happily pay for an hour's service but needed to be finished "in 15 minutes, tops". His wife and children, back at the game, thought he had gone to the bar for drinks. True story.

Another Brisbane brothel is responding to demand and putting in a baby's room. Hearing this I thought, how progressive that the family friendly employer is providing child care for the workers' children. Foolish, foolish girl. The baby room is for men who like to be dressed in a nappy and treated like a baby. A workers says you'd be surprised at the type of clients. Usually they are men who tend to dominate and bully at home or in the workplace, often bosses and management types seeking a release. Sound like anyone you know?

Luckily, Australia is a free country. Even Queensland. You can dislike films about men who fall in love with each other. You can dislike men who fall in love with each other. You can criticize movies you've never seen till the cows come home. Just don't expect other not to think it is you who are the said stereotype.

So, back to this joke (because sex, if nothing else, should be fun)...A chicken and an egg are lying in bed, right...The chicken is smoking a cigarette with a satisfied smile on its little chicken face. The egg is frowning and looking cranky. The egg mutters to no one in particular, "Well, I guess we answered THAT question".

Juror's Expulsion Not Affecting Rape Verdict

Gladstone, AU -- A Juror was discharged from a rape trial after he sent a text message to a workmate claiming if the accused in the case was black he would convict him. The remainder of the jury heard the case after the judge refused a defense application to have the entire jury discharged. They convicted Hoane Joseph Kahu of one count of rape but were unable to reach a verdict on two other counts of rape.

The trial in Gladstone District Court heard a girl, 15, was drinking with friends but became separated from them on March 5, last year. The Crown alleged she was walking along a street when she met Kahu who allegedly raped her. He initially denied meeting the girl but after his DNA was found on her dress he claimed he had sex with her within three minutes of them meeting. The jury could reach a verdict only on a count of oral rape.

Kahu appealed on two grounds - that the entire jury was tainted by racial bias from the discharged juror and that the conviction on one count was unsafe and unsatisfactory in the light of acquittals on other counts. Unanimously, the Court of Appeal dismissed Kahu's appeal against conviction.

Justice Pat Keane said the juror who sent the text message o a workmate had been discharged because he disobeyed the judge's direction not to discuss the case with anyone outside the jury. The text message read: "If the accused is black I am going to say guilty."

Justice Keane said there was nothing to suggest the discharged juror had affected the views of the remaining jurors.

Top Ten U.S Sport Sex Scandals

With the Panthers cheerleaders alleged-sex-in-a-bathroom (which they have denied took place) scandal coming hot on the heels of the Vikings sex-on-a-boat escapade, perhaps it's time to ponder 10 of the (other) biggest sex scandals in sports history:

1. Gold Club trial: It's not exactly shocking to hear that pro athletes frequent strip clubs. It's another matter to have it aired in open court, which was what happened during the 2001 racketeering trial of Gold Club owner Steve Kaplan in Atlanta. Among the athletes who took the stand wer
